Garlic is good for helping to give relief from different aches and pains. It also helps improve circulation in your body. Some people buy garlic supplements and others choose to eat raw garlic. One reason garlic is so good for sciatica pain is the oxidant properties it contains. To get the maximum benefits from garlic in treating sciatica symptoms, it's important to take Vitamin B1 or B complex supplement with the garlic. Some foods that give you natural sources of B1 are liver, beef, spinach, green peas, pork, navy beans, soybeans, bananas, whole-grain cereals and breads.
Some people swear by garlic milk as an excellent home treatment for sciatica. Mix ½ cup of milk with two cloves of garlic finely minced. Most claim that drinking this twice a day will bring results in a week. Not anyone can freely take garlic, however. If you have bleeding ulcers or other disorders or take anticoagulants, it is not recommended that you take garlic.
Freshly minced horseradish poultice is a very good home remedy for sciatica pain when rubbed on the painful areas. Sauerkraut is great for relaxing the muscles, which helps with sciatica.
Water is also great as a home remedy for sciatica because it helps keep good circulation going in your body, which will reduce the pain.
Other important keys to sciatica home treatment are a good diet with plenty of good healthy exercise. It is important to maintain good overall health in addition to the home remedies for sciatica. It is also important that you sleep on a firm mattress as well as use good posture while sitting or standing.
